NOAA Weather Day

Timucua District NOAA Weather Day 2013

Free Tour of Ruskin Weather Station

Saturday, February 23, 2013

Ever wonder how meteorologists can predict the changes in weather? Do you wonder how they can tell where bad weather will happen? In our own backyard, the National Weather Service in Ruskin has invited your troop or pack for a guided tour of the facility to get the answers to those questions and many more. Learn from their professionals about our hazardous weather, the machines they use and lots more.

Registration by Groups / Units is encouraged but individual families is allowed. There will be 11 groups of a maximum of 20 people in each group due to facility size. Everyone in the group, not just scouts, needs to be counted for this event. Each tour last about 1 hour and there will be staggered start times throughout the day. The first tour start at 9:00 AM and the last tour starts at 3:00 PM. Complete the registration form online at Timucua.us. Look for the Event Registration link and we will let you know by e-mail what time slot has been reserved for you and your group. You will have a choice of either an AM or PM time preference.

The event chairman is Mack Darr and he can be reached at 813-422-2028 or Stanggt22@msn.com if you have any questions.
